You know those days when you're craving a cool, caffeinated frozen drink but you don't want to spend over $5 for one at the coffeehouse? Well, this is a great treat to make instead! As an added benefit, this recipe doesn't use any artificial flavors or ingredients that you aren't even sure how to pronounce. You can whip this up in a fraction of the time that it takes to get in your car and drive to Starbucks!
Ingredients
- 1 cup cooled coffee (regular or decaf)
- 1/4 cup almond/non-dairy milk
- a few pinches of cinnamon
- 2 Tbs hemp seeds
- splash of vanilla extract
- 1.5 frozen bananas, sliced into coins
- handful of ice
- sweetener if needed
Method
Step 1
Chill some leftover coffee in an airtight container for a few hours (or overnight) before making this smoothie, or be prepared to use a little extra ice.
Step 2
Place the non-dairy milk, cinnamon, vanilla and hemp seeds into a blender and mix until a milky consistency forms. Add in the coffee and sliced bananas and continue mixing until smooth.
Step 3
Add in the ice last, and blend on high until there are no chunks remaining. Taste for sweetness and add your favorite plant-based sweetener or sugar alternative. Pour into a glass and enjoy with a straw!
